What is an FSA?
FSA (Flexible Spending Account) is a financial account where you set aside pre-tax money from your paycheck to pay for health expenses that aren’t covered by your insurance.
Do FSAs expire?
Most FSA plans must be used in the same calendar year and expire on December 31. For your 2024 FSA you must incur all expenses by December 31, 2024. However, you have until April 30, 2025 to file FSA claims for expenses incurred in 2024.
Can FSA Accounts Be Used for Vision Expenses?
Yes! There are many vision related items that are considered eligible expenses such as prescription eye glasses, prescription sunglasses and contact lenses.
What vision related expenses are covered by FSA?
You can use your FSA dollars to buy any eyewear product that corrects your vision. This means all prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses, including single-vision, progressives, and prescription blue light blockers and readers. You can also use your FSA to buy any contact lens brand.
How can you buy glasses and contacts with an FSA?
- There are two ways you can buy glasses and contacts using your FSA dollars.
- With a FSA Debit Card: If you have an FSA debit card, complete your purchase as you would with any other credit card.
- Without a FSA Debit Card: Simply complete your purchase and we’ll provide you with an itemized receipt after your purchase.
What other vision related expenses are covered by FSA?
- Other vision related expenses may also be eligible for reimbursement. A good rule of thumb is to keep your receipts and other supporting documents related to your reimbursement requests. Some such items may include:
